ISM Weekly Report

This week in ISM, in the midst of assembling my contact list and crafting my interview questions, I learned just how vast the legal world is. After searching the internet, for the area’s best and brightest corporate lawyers, it became apparent to me that networking is an incredibly important aspect of the profession. I found it quite interesting how many lawyers in the Frisco and Dallas areas went to SMU, or the similar schools in close proximity to each other, for law school. This made me think of all of the possibilities one may have to create strong professional partnerships. The ability to make connections and develop relationships will be invaluable asset to ensuring success in the practice. Consequently, from looking for various law firms in the area, via the internet, I was able to feel the full effect of one’s first impression, and the importance of how one presents themselves, as it would greatly sway my opinion of an individual, or of an entire firm. This, quite unexpectedly, occurred to me when viewing a multitude of different websites, it became apparent to me how important a professional appearance of the website that the firm itself has, as well as the appearance of the attorneys the firm employs.
